Three specialist state high schools for Queensland's high performers

The Queensland Academies are state schools for high achieving Year 10 to 12 students.

They're just like any other state school - uniform, camps, excursions, sport, a formal - but they're designed to maximise the potential of high achieving students and prepare them for university.

History of the Queensland Academies

The exciting benefits of attending the Queensland Academies include:

Studying with like-minded students

By challenging current approaches to teaching and learning, students are able to learn both from, and with, each other. The academies promote a sense of team and encourage students to form learning groups that support each other.

Internationally recognised curriculum

The Queensland Academies offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program – an internationally recognised pre-university level qualification.

Partnerships with universities

Partnerships with leading universities afford students benefits including fast-tracking of studies, industry experience, involvement with university staff and access to world-class resources and facilities.

Advanced facilities

The advanced learning opportunities at the Queensland Academies are supported by university-standard facilities.

Technology-rich environment

Academies' students use a graphic tablet (electronic notebook) instead of traditional notebooks, for all their subjects.

All three campuses have full wireless connectivity – meaning students can use online technologies without plugging in their graphics tablets.
